i have an iphone 8 and it doesn't read nfc tags without an additional app. why ?
why can't the iphone 8 read nfc tags ?
We can't speak for Apple but... that's how they designed it. The iPhone 7,8 and X don't have 'background tag reading' which means that they are not always looking for NFC tags. You need an App installed and then use that App to actively request to scan the tag. We don't think that this functionality will change.
I have an iphone 8 and it can read nfc tags with an app. this website recommends the nxp taginfo app but there's a simpler one from nxp on apple as well which i downloaded. you need to open the app first though.
I notice that seritag mention that the function on the iphone 8 is not likely to change so that it can read tags without an app. Does anyone know this to be true ? is there any chance that Apple will enable the scnaning of tags without an app ?
You have to remember that the iphone 8 is now quite old. Mobile phone years make dog years look short.
